Club Med for most of us is synonymous with sunshine, turquoise waters and white sandy beaches...but for those who enjoy the white under their feet to be snow rather than sand, Club Med can also mean an action packed winter holiday in the mountains.

Now determined to keep the momentum rolling and improve on their already substantial and successful resort base in the Alps, Club Med Val Thorens will close its doors on one side of the street and open its doors just across the way to the brand new Val Thorens 4T destination this December. Acting as a flagship ski destination for Club Med's Mountain resorts they have certainly chosen the right location, right at the heart of the highest resort in Europe with amazing access to the prestigious ski domain of The 3 Valleys.

This all inclusive resort will be able to offer a range of innovative snow sports including speed-riding, boarder cross, winter mountain biking, sledging and riding snow scooters. And in keeping with their reputation for luxury accommodation there will also be a luxury wellness centre with Club Med Spa by CARITA. And for the foodies out there it is worth noting that they have designed an exclusive menu for the stylish Epicurious Gourmet Lounge with the help of Edouard Loubet, a two Michelin star chef.

Club Med Managing Director Eric Chauvet said: “Our 4T Val Thorens resort is a real crowd-pleaser encompassing a great array of activities which can be enjoyed by teens, parents and groups of friends. Servicing elite skiers who are looking for a broad range of other sports and activities, to add to their ski holiday, the new resort really has something for everyone.”

And this resort really should appeal to all as during the design and development stages the company used an innovative approach to discover what their customers wanted. Crowd-sourcing ideas through a Facebook app, fans were invited to vote for what they wanted from Club Med's latest holiday destination. The result...Club Med has tailored the look and feel of the resort and developed new sports facilities.

With a surge in the tourist industry in general and specifically with business from outside of Europe it is estimated that at least 50 % of Club Med Customers are from outside of France and so the resort will act as an International ambassador and create an exciting base for skiers and outdoor enthusiasts from across the globe. All of this, alongside the unique architecture and impeccable service that you would expect from a Club Med resort means that this is sure to be a hit in the Alps and a real draw to bring tourists to the fantastic resort of Val Thorens.
