The UCI MTB DH World Cup Season is Over for Another Year.. And Boy was it a good one!

Downhill mountain bike results and season results from Meribel

We all knew it was going to be a tight run competition yesterday with all to play for in the men's and women's races, and we weren't disappointed with the results.

In the women's race Rachel Atherton won with a scorchingly fast run, and as expected it was a battle between her, Emmeline Ragot and Manon Carpenter for the top three positions. As Manon Carpenter crossed the line on her run, we knew she'd done enough to take the overall season win too. She told us she'd had an amazing run and that the downhill track here in Meribel has definitely been her favourite of the season so far (a sentiment mirrored by so many of the other riders too). Tahnee Seagrave took 5th in the race and 5th overall for the season, making her the third British podium winner.

Women's Race Results:

1st – Rachel Atherton - 3.40.415
2nd – Emmeline Ragot +3.405
3rd – Manon Carpenter +6.109
4th – Tracey Hannah +12.148
5th – Tahnee Seagrave +15.886

In the men's competition Matt Simmonds had his race of the year, following up on a great qualifying run with a nail biting second place finish. Sam Hill took the win on the day with Josh Bryceland coming in third and importantly above Aaron Gwin who came 6th. Troy Brosnan who had been looking (worryingly) good enough to snatch the crown from Bryceland had a puncture on his race run, leaving him back in 20th position and the season title firmly in the hands of Josh 'Ratboy' Bryceland. Bryceland has had an amazing season with 2 race wins under his belt and we've seen some incredible riding from him which is always great to watch.

Men’s Race Results:
1st – Sam Hill - 3.16.372
2nd – Matt Simmonds +.366
3rd – Josh Bryceland + .530
4th – Loic Bruni +1.075
5th – Gee Atherton +1.103

All the riders are looking on top form for the World Championships in Hafjell, Norway in a weeks time, and we can't wait to see who ends up taking the wins over there. The world champs are on from 1st to the 7th September.

Read the full race results here. If you missed out on watching the race yesterday, you can watch the replay of all the action on Redbull TV.

The cow bells are still ringing out this morning in Meribel as the Cross Country races conclude an amazing weekend of action, tension, excitement and celebrations. There's going to be a few sore heads around the British team camps this morning.. and we're wondering if Steve Peat will actually make it over to ride the Trans Savoie in Val d'Isere today?!?

A huge thanks to AMS Rentals for our accommodation this weekend. We're off to go and calm down after so much excitement! ;-)
