Anyone who visited Meribel-Mottaret this summer would have seen a whole lot of building work taking place. The reason being that there is a huge investment project with a whopping 60 million euros being put in place from now up until 2022. The main focus of the development is updating lifts and putting in place a new beginner ski area.

In terms of making the resort more beginner friendly it’s a box ticker especially for beginner skiers. Not many of the resorts in the Three Valleys can actually claim to be really beginner friendly with very few green runs, so it seems this is a step in the right direction.

In addition, the resort will also gain a fantastic new floodlit night-time luge track. This is another great feature for the resort, adding a different element to après.

For those in the know about the area here are the specifics; the Chalets Gondola will be modernised and the Roc de Tougne draglifts will be replaced with a fast chairlift. Any replacement of draglifts certainly makes me happy! The Arolles and Table Verte chairlifts will also be replaced with a new ‘Combes’ chairlift to cover the whole area. Beginners will be able to hop off mid way and ski down the new beginner friendly green piste back to resort.

With the Courchevel side of Meribel-Mottaret sometimes making for quite icey pistes when temperatures and conditions change it seems this development will open up more options for skiers in resort.

Take a look at the video to see how things are going to look once the work is finished.
