Val Thorens Apres Ski Review: 3rd March 2015

Family friendly events, piano recitals and some foodie suggestions

This week in Les Menuires is a great music festival for children ‘Boule de Notes’. Taking place from 1st to 6th March there will be live music shows and entertainment all over the resort and they mean everywhere!

Pop-up shows on the piste, bands as you ski into resort and strolling music bands across the terraces. As this event is aimed at children there is a lot of effort that goes into the costumes and they definitely make sure it’s a show for everyone. The good news is, it’s free so look out for the different acts during your stay.

Another free event this week on a slightly different note (literally!) is a pianist concert in Val Thorens on Tuesday at 6.30pm. It sounds like this chap certainly knows his stuff having played since the age of 6yrs old and the proud winner of several international music awards. So if you want to hear Axel Lenarduzzi tickle the ivories then head on over.

Also on Tuesday and on an even more diverse musical note is ‘The Tour de Funk’ from Amsterdam playing at Malaysia. The club rave that this is one of their favourite live bands. Sounds like if you’re planning some late après this week then this could be your night. (Free entrance).

If you’re on holiday in France it seems only right to sample some cheese huh! In Val Thorens on Thursday there is a foundue party with a tasty Savoie cheese, Beaufort, from 3pm at Place Caron, the perfect way to re-fuel at the end of the ski day! As with most of these mountain events I’m sure there’s some mulled wine to be had to wash it down with.

On the other hand if during your ski week you feel you have had your fill of meat and cheese and want to savour some different cuisine then try Red Dragon in Les Menuires. Certainly a treat for anyone staying in the mountains for any length of time starting to miss different flavours. There is sushi and a whole host of fantastic Asian cuisine on the menu, well worth a visit.

Then finally get your afro at the ready for La Folie! We have mentioned this La Folie Douce event previously - every Wednesday you can get your picture taken and dressed in their photo booth with a different theme each week and receive a free Folie Douce product. This week the theme is…Disco! Sure it will be a Boogie Wonderland on the slopes and you get your chance to strut your stuff on top of the world! So if you’re after cheese or cheesy there’s something for you in Val Thorens for you this week…
