Jean Sulpice Restaurant, Val Thorens

2 Michelin stars - gourmet cuisine at the foot of the pistes

Savoyard Chef Jean Sulpice heads one of France's most famous restaurants. This is definitely one for a special occasion.

Beautifully furnished but with a relaxed atmosphere, the restaurant is modern and extremely chic but not too formal - ski wear is welcomed! There is a large sunny terrace overlooking the slopes.

Jean Sulpice’s cuisine has an authentic Savoy personality – he uses native products to create a dish, or a flavour, a mountain herb or a sauce. With a goal to celebrate the richness and the diversity of the Savoy region, winter or summer, he works seasonally with local farmers.

Signature dishes include Quail eggs, cucumber jelly, smoked fera and oxalis, Pigeon cooked in a salt crust and verbena, Sweetbread with tonka bean, or Saffron, passion fruit and Savoy biscuit. This is certainly not a cheap restaurant, but who can argue with 2 Michelin stars?

Open in both winter and summer for lunch 12:15 - 13:30 and dinner 19:15-21:30. Booking advised.

  • "I was very impressed. Excellent food even when compared to other Michelin star restaurants. Service was less formal (which I prefer) but efficient nonetheless. The three-course meal was excellent and includes many amouse bouches and other nice touches. Of course, you are paying fine dining prices - but compared to other restaurants who charge mountain prices in the area, and as a treat, the relative value was definitely worth it. If you are looking for a top quality meal on the mountain then this should fit the bill." - Trip Advisor
  • "Fantastic meal, lovely setting. really nicely designed restaurant. Didn't feel stuffy and staff were excellent. Can't say enough about how great the food was." - Trip Advisor
  • "I ate in the restaurant a few years ago, and again during my recent stay in Val Thorens. The food is just fantastic. And the service too. And the wine. If you don't mind spending for an expensive meal, it's certainly worth dining at." - Trip Advisor
