Val Thorens Apres Ski Report: 18th January 2015

In Les Menuires there is a live music festival with a new band every day at 10pm at Le Challenge Bar. Here’s a run down of the programme and who’s on when:

• Monday: Monsieur Orange
• Tuesday: Bonne Pioche
• Wednesday: The Resident
• Thursday: Sirjean and Pako
• Friday: DJ Haze

Club Malaysia has two big artists this week with Adrian Lux on Monday and Klingande on Wednesday.

La Folie Douce Val Thorens now has ‘Fancy Wednesday’ hosting a different theme each week. This week the theme is ‘Movie Characters’, so head along to their photo booth, get dressed up and you’ll get a free Folie Douce product along with the usual shenanigans from The Partymakers.

On a slightly different note in St Martin de Belleville on Thursday at 6.30pm there is a ‘Quartet Felice’ concert with two major works for quartet with piano by Brahms and Mel Bonis. Free entry at the village church.

Similarly the lounge bar of the Hotel Mercure in Val Thorens held the first of six different Jazz concerts on Friday starting with Le Mezcolanza. They take place from 6.30pm until 10pm and we will keep you posted of the upcoming events.

If you are looking for somewhere different to eat out in the evening then try the Yourte de Belleville in Les Menuires. Where you sit around a wood fire in one of two real Mongolian yurts to sample some Savoyard fayre. The Yourte is open every day for this unique dinner experience and you also can get a taxi snowmobile from the Croisette. Contact the tourist office for further details for booking.

The French take ‘babyfoot’ or table football as we know it very seriously but if you think you are up for the challenge then Le Billig Bar in St Martin has a tournament on Tuesday evening from 9pm. Participating in teams of two with the chance to win a bottle of champers. Sign yourself up at the bar.
